Are You Managing Your Time Effectively?

Time management is necessary to any business owner, and there are many techniques to increase your effectiveness and complete work that constantly needs to be done.

In order to achieve success, it is very important to be able to manage your time efficiently. By planning your daily tasks  everyday and making sure to spend a certain amount of time actually doing it, you will achieve far more this way.

It’s very easy to spend time on non-productive activities on the internet, including reading emails, hanging out in forums too long and spending a lot of time on social sites, such as Facebook. I know I’ve certainly wasted a lot of time doing these activities myself. So, by setting time limits for these activities, as well as your business tasks, you can find the time needed to really push ahead with your business.

One way of doing this, is by simply witing “a to do” list for the following day. You could set time limits for  each task, if you have an idea of how long each task should take. This can help greatly, because you can just go through the list and tick them off when completed. By being accountable for finishing those tasks, it  reduces the urge to be distracted by other non-productive activities.

There are also many time management softwares available on the internet, which can help you plan, prepare and prioritize activities which need to be done. Different types of time management tools range from organizers, “to do list” softwares, reminders, calendars and planners.

While all of these can be very beneficial in your business, you may even find uses for them in your personal life as well.

  1. Hi Cheryl

In the past I have made the mistake of being like a butterfly and flitting from one job to another without being as productive as I should have been, but just as you have recommended in your post I now make a weekly and daily plan of action and I am certainly being far more productive in most areas!

    All the best

  2. Hi Cheryl, there is alos an immense satisfaction in crossing off items on your ‘to do’ list. That is one great benefit of having a list. A small reward at completion is a great incentive too!

    Enjoy the journey.

  4. Hi Cheryl. I am also a bit of a flitter I’m afraid, although I have become more focussed as I have aged! Probably because I don’t have the energy that I used to have! I am also an archetypical bloke in that I sometimes put things off hoping that they will eventually do themselves or go away entirely!! Again, something that I do less the older I get (God I sound old!). Seriously, I think you make a lot of sense and tasking is a good way to keep on top of things and be more productive. Thanks for the tips.

    Best Wishes
